This guide walks you through the complete process of connecting your PayPal account to GrowthOptix, unlocking accurate revenue analytics, subscriptions, customers, churn, and MRR insights.
The integration is done in two phases:
Connecting PayPal from the GrowthOptix UI.
Authorizing the connection by providing your PayPal Client ID and Secret Key.
Before You Start.
Make sure you:
Have admin access to your PayPal Business account.
Are logged into your GrowthOptix account.
Can access PayPal’s developer dashboard.
Security note: GrowthOptix has read-only access to your PayPal data. We cannot modify transactions, customers, subscriptions, or payments in any way.
Step 1: Confirm PayPal as Your Billing System.
Right after you create your GrowthOptix account, you will be redirected to the screen shown below. Alternatively, you can go ahead and start the integration from the Get Started panel.
Go to Smart Revenue Analytics.
Locate Step 1: Connect Your First Integration.
Click PayPal → Connect.
You’ll see PayPal listed under Billing Systems.
Click Connect next to PayPal Integration
Step 2: Log in to Your PayPal Account.
You will be redirected to PayPal.
Enter your PayPal Business account email.
Click Next.
Enter your password.
Click Log in.
Step 3: You Will Be Redirected to GrowthOptix to Start Data Syncing.
Once authenticated, you’ll be redirected back to GrowthOptix.
You’ll see Step 1: Sync.
Click the Sync button to begin importing your historical revenue data.
Depending on the volume of your transactions, this synchronization process could take between 10 and 50 minutes, or even longer.
Step 4: Data Processing.
GrowthOptix will begin processing your PayPal data.
This includes:
Payments.
Subscriptions.
Customers.
Products.
Invoices.
Trials.
Processing time depends on your data volume.
Step 5: Currency Conversion.
If your PayPal account contains multiple currencies, GrowthOptix will normalize values so all metrics are displayed consistently across dashboards.
Step 6: Integration Connected (But Not Fully Authorized).
At this point:
PayPal is connected.
Core data is syncing.
But advanced metrics (MRR, churn, subscriptions) are still limited.
This is when GrowthOptix shows a reminder banner.
Step 7: Complete Your PayPal Integration (Teach Me How)
This is where the “Teach me how” banner appears.
You may see a banner saying “Complete your PayPal integration process.”
Click "Teach me how" to finish the setup.
Step 8: Provide Client ID & Secret Key (Final Authorization).
8.1 Access PayPal Developer Dashboard.
Log in to your PayPal business account.https://www.paypal.com/
Navigate to the Developer Dashboard or API Dashboard section or enter:https://developer.paypal.com/dashboard
Locate the Default Application under your account settings. Most PayPal Business Accounts come with a Default Application.
Within the Default Application settings, ensure that your application is set to
Live Mode.
This mode allows the integration to function with your live data.
8.2 Enable App Features.

Enabling App Features:
While still in the Default Application settings, select and enable all the App features necessary for the integration process. These features include Subscriptions, Catalog Product, and Customer data retrieval.
After selecting the required features, remember to click on the "Save Changes" button to apply your selections.
Advanced Settings for Log in with PayPal:
In the Default Application settings, locate the "Log in with PayPal" section.
Click on "Advanced Settings" to access detailed configuration options.
Ensure that the "Return URL" is set to: nativexo://paypalpay. This URL is crucial for redirecting users after authentication.
Within the advanced settings, enable all the necessary parameters, with a special focus on "PayPal account ID (Payer ID)" to ensure comprehensive data retrieval.
Save your settings by clicking the "Save" button.
8.3 Paste credentials and click Authorize.
Copying Client ID and Secret Key
Return to the Default Application settings.
Locate and copy the "Client ID" and "Secret Key" provided by PayPal. These credentials are essential for GrowthOptix integration.
Paste your Client ID & Secret Key, and Click "Authorize"
Once completed, the integration reaches 100% and all metrics unlock.
What Happens After Connection?
Once fully connected, GrowthOptix will:
Continuously sync new PayPal transactions.
Update metrics automatically (MRR, ARR, churn, revenue).
Display accurate historical and real-time analytics.
You don’t need to repeat this process unless you revoke access from PayPal.
Troubleshooting & Tips.
If data appears incomplete, allow additional processing time.
Make sure credentials are copied from the correct PayPal app.
Re-check permissions if authorization fails.
