This article helps you verify that your Tracking Script and events are working as expected, so your data reflects real user behavior.

Correct tracking is essential for accurate metrics in GrowthOptix.

Step 1: Confirm the Tracking Script Is Installed.

First, make sure the GrowthOptix Tracking Script is installed on your website.

You should verify that:

  • The script is present on all relevant pages.

  • It loads successfully without errors.

  • It is not blocked by your site configuration.

If the script is missing or blocked, GrowthOptix cannot track visits, page views, or events.

Step 2: Check for Incoming Traffic.

Once the script is active:

  • Visit your website yourself.

  • Navigate through multiple pages.

  • Use a test ad or UTM link if available.

Within GrowthOptix, you should start seeing:

  • Visits.

  • Page Views.

  • Device and geography data.

If traffic appears, the script is successfully detecting sessions.

Step 3: Validate Event Tracking.

Next, verify that conversion events are firing correctly.

Trigger actions such as:

  • Submitting a form.

  • Completing a signup.

  • Making a test purchase (if applicable).

Then check:

  • Events appear in GrowthOptix.

  • Event names and types match your configuration.

  • Conversions increase after the action.

If events do not appear, review how they are implemented in your script.

Step 4: Verify Attribution Data.

When traffic comes from ads or tracked links, GrowthOptix should capture attribution details such as:

  • Source

  • Medium.

  • Campaign.

  • Referrer.

  • Device.

Confirm that:

  • Paid traffic is correctly identified.

  • Campaign names appear as expected.

  • Data aligns with how your links are structured.

This ensures your attribution setup is complete.

Step 5: Compare with External Platforms (Lightly)

It’s normal for GrowthOptix data to differ slightly from:

  • Google Ads.

  • Meta.

  • Bing.

  • Others.

However, you should expect:

  • Consistent trends.

  • Logical relationships between clicks, visits, and conversions.

GrowthOptix tracks what actually reaches your website, not just what platforms report.

Common Signs Something Is Not Working.

You may need to investigate if you see:

  • Zero visits despite active traffic.

  • No events after known conversions.

  • Missing attribution fields.

  • Sudden drops across all metrics.

These usually indicate script or event configuration issues.

Best Practices

To keep tracking reliable:

  • Test events after every website update.

  • Avoid duplicate event firing.

  • Keep event definitions simple and consistent.

  • Validate tracking before launching major campaigns.
