What is Marketing Attribution?

Marketing Attribution helps you understand where your users come from, how they behave, and which marketing efforts drive conversions and revenue.

It combines three main data sources:

  • The GrowthOptix Tracking Script (The Script) for first-party tracking.

  • Advertising platform integrations for campaign data.

  • FAI, GrowthOptix’s AI assistant, to interpret and explore attribution insights.

Together, these components provide a reliable and privacy-friendly view of your marketing performance.

The Script: First-party Tracking and Attribution.

The Script is GrowthOptix’s proprietary tracking script installed on your website.

It captures first-party events directly from real user activity, such as:

  • Page visits and sessions.

  • Leads, signups, or custom events.

  • Sales and conversion events.

Because The Script runs on your site, it is not limited by ad platform reporting delays or browser restrictions. This allows for more accurate and consistent attribution.

Marketing Attribution dashboards become active once:

  • The Script is installed.

  • At least one event is defined and firing.

Advertising Platform Integrations.

Marketing Attribution also integrates with major advertising platforms, including:

  • Google Ads.

  • Meta Ads (Facebook & Instagram).

  • Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads).

These platforms provide reported metrics, such as:

  • Impressions.

  • Clicks.

  • Spend.

GrowthOptix combines this reported data with first-party data from The Script to give you a clearer picture of campaign performance.

What Marketing Attribution Dashboards Show.

Once tracking and integrations are active, Marketing Attribution dashboards help you analyze:

  • Traffic volume and sources.

  • Conversion events and funnels.

  • Performance by channel, campaign, or source.

  • Breakdown by landing page, device, and geography.

These dashboards are designed to show how users move from visit to conversion, not just raw traffic numbers.

Using FAI with Marketing Attribution.

FAI lets you explore your marketing and attribution data in natural language.

Instead of manually checking multiple dashboards, you can ask questions like:

  • “Which channel generated the most conversions?”

  • “How are paid campaigns performing compared to organic traffic?”

  • “Which landing pages convert best?”

  • “Where are users dropping off in the funnel?”

FAI analyzes data from The Script and ad platforms to provide clear explanations and actionable insights.

How Marketing Attribution Connects to Revenue.

Marketing Attribution works closely with Revenue Analytics.

A typical flow looks like this:

  1. Marketing Attribution shows where traffic comes from and how users convert.

  2. Revenue Analytics shows how those conversions translate into revenue.

This connection allows you to understand which marketing efforts actually drive business results, not just clicks or impressions.

What you need for Marketing Attribution to work.

To get the most out of Marketing Attribution:

  • Install The GrowthOptix Tracking Script.

  • Define at least one conversion event.

  • (Optional) Connect advertising platforms.

  • Allow real user activity to occur.

If dashboards appear empty at first, this usually means tracking or events are not fully configured yet. This might be expected during initial setup.

How Marketing Attribution Works With Other GrowthOptix Features

Marketing Attribution works together with:

  • The Script, for first-party tracking.

  • Revenue Analytics, for revenue outcomes.

  • FAI, for AI-driven insights across traffic, conversions, and performance.

Together, these features provide a complete view of the process from acquisition → conversion → revenue.
