What is New Recurring Revenue?

New Recurring Revenue is the total amount of monthly revenue generated by new subscriptions that began within the current period.

It’s one of the clearest indicators of growth because it captures the actual financial value of your new paying customers, not just how many you gained.

How is it calculated?

GrowthOptix calculates New Recurring Revenue by summing the normalized monthly value of all new subscriptions with at least one successful payment during the selected period.

Formula:

New Recurring Revenue = Σ (Normalized Monthly Value of New Subscriptions)

This normalization includes:

  • Daily plans → Daily price × 30.4

  • Weekly plans → Weekly price × 4

  • Monthly plans → Monthly price

  • Yearly plans → Annual price ÷ 12

Only newly created subscriptions with a successful payment are included.

Why it matters

This metric helps you:

  • Track the quality of new acquisitions (not just quantity).

  • Understand the direct revenue impact of recent marketing or sales activities.

  • Forecast MRR and ARR growth with greater accuracy.

  • Compare it to Churned Revenue to measure net revenue movement.

How GrowthOptix displays it

  • Available in the Home Dashboard, Subscriptions Dashboard, and Revenue Dashboard.

  • Synced from Stripe and PayPal accounts.

  • Always based on successful transactions only, never estimated.

Pro Tip

A high New Subscriptions count with low New Recurring Revenue could mean you're attracting low-value plans. Use this metric to optimize pricing or customer segments.
