What is Total Revenue?
Total Revenue is the sum of all successful transactions processed through your Stripe and/or PayPal accounts, whether recurring or one-time.
Unlike MRR or ARR, Total Revenue accounts for all sources of income, including subscriptions, upgrades, one-time purchases, and even charges that were later refunded or disputed.
It’s the most comprehensive view of how much money your business has generated during a selected time.
How is it calculated?
GrowthOptix uses this simple but powerful formula:
Total Revenue = Σ (Amount of Successful Transactions)
This includes:
Recurring payments.
One-time purchases.
Upgrades, add-ons, or usage-based charges.
Charges that were later refunded (refunds are accounted separately in Net Revenue).
Only completed transactions are included. Failed payments, pending invoices, or canceled charges are excluded.
Why it matters
Total Revenue helps you:
Understand your true cash inflow, regardless of revenue type
Evaluate top-line performance over time
Compare performance across channels (Stripe vs PayPal)
Segment revenue by plan, customer type, or product
It’s the go-to metric for monthly reports, executive dashboards, and financial health checkups.
