What is Total Trial Revenue?

Total Trial Revenue refers to all revenue collected during the trial period, whether the trial is partially paid, discounted, or has any upfront payment before converting into a full subscription.

This metric helps you assess how much value is being monetized early in the customer lifecycle, especially if you offer paid trials via Stripe or PayPal.


How is it calculated?

GrowthOptix calculates Total Trial Revenue using this formula:

Total Trial Revenue = Σ (Revenue Collected During Trial Periods)

This includes:

  • $1 or low-cost trial periods.

  • Discounted first-month offers.

  • Revenue captured before the trial expires.

Free trials with no monetary transaction are not included.


Where can I see this in GrowthOptix?

Inside the Trials Dashboard, you’ll find the Total Trials (Revenue) chart, located in the top-right section of the screen. It visualizes:

  • Revenue by trial type.

  • Time-based performance.

  • Conversion comparison with captured revenue.

You’ll also see it alongside:

  • Converted Revenue vs Captured Revenue.

  • Performance by trial types.

  • Trial Funnel.


Why is this metric important?

Trial revenue gives you a snapshot of how effective your entry pricing strategies are. It’s useful for:

  • Measuring the conversion potential of paid trials.

  • Understanding trial monetization health.

  • Segmenting which trial types (7-day, 14-day, custom) bring the most early value.

If you see good trial revenue but low conversions, it might be time to optimize onboarding or value delivery.

You can customize your view by:

  • Trial type (7-day, 14-day, 30-day, custom).

  • Date range.

  • Source (Stripe / PayPal).

  • Converted vs non-converted trials.

Use these filters to drill down into what’s working.
