A “lead” is any user action that you or your team have defined as a lead event; for example, submitting a form, requesting a demo, downloading a resource, or any other interaction that signals interest.
This metric reflects how effectively your marketing efforts convert traffic into potential customers.
How Leads are Measured in GrowthOptix.
GrowthOptix calculates Leads as the sum of all events triggered with the event type "lead", based on your Tracking Script configuration.
A lead event is recorded when:
A visitor submits a form.
A user triggers a custom lead event (e.g., “Start Checkout”, “Signup Intent”, “Waitlist Submit”).
You manually define an element as “lead-conversion action” in your script setup.
All these events are automatically attributed back to their Source, Medium, and Campaign using UTM parameters when available.
Why Leads Matter.
This KPI is crucial because it helps you understand:
Whether your campaigns are generating qualified prospects.
How well your landing pages convert traffic.
Which marketing channels produce the highest intent users.
Early-stage performance of your acquisition funnel.
Tracking leads at the multi-channel level allows you to optimize spend toward the most effective marketing sources.
Example
If during a selected date range your site records:
210 form submissions.
45 demo requests.
90 newsletter sign-ups (configured as lead events).
GrowthOptix will display: Leads = 210 + 45 + 90 = 345 leads
Best Practices
To get more value from this metric, we recommend:
Clearly defining what constitutes a “lead” in your tracking configuration.
Tracking all key lead actions consistently across your website.
Comparing leads against clicks or page views to identify funnel bottlenecks.
Pairing this metric with Conversion Rate, Spend, and ROI by source.
Monitoring changes when you adjust forms, CTAs, or landing page design.
Limitations
Lead tracking depends on correctly configured script events.
If a form or button is not tagged as a lead event, it won’t be counted.
Ad blockers or script blockers may prevent some events from recording.
Duplicate events may occur if the same trigger fires multiple times (avoid double-fires).
Where to Find This Metric
You can find this metric in the overview, landing page, Device, and referrers dashboards.
