Visitors.

Visitors represent the total number of unique devices detected on your website by the GrowthOptix Tracking Script during a selected time period.

GrowthOptix generates a unique identifier per device. Each identifier is counted once, no matter how many times that device visits your site or how many sessions it generates.

In short:

  • Visitors = unique devices.

  • Sessions = browsing activity over time.

How Visitors Are Measured In GrowthOptix

Visitors are measured on-site, not inside ad platforms or external analytics tools.

GrowthOptix records a Visitor when:

  • A device lands on your website.

  • The GrowthOptix Tracking Script loads successfully.

  • A unique device identifier is generated and detected.

  • That identifier has not been seen before during the selected time range.

If the same device comes back multiple times, it is still counted as one Visitor.

Where To Find This Metric

You can find Visitors across multiple Marketing Attribution dashboards, including:

  • Marketing Attribution Overview.

  • Source-level tables.

  • Campaign-level views.

  • Metric Chart View.

This allows you to analyze how many unique devices your marketing efforts are reaching.

What’s Included In Visitors.

This metric includes:

  • Unique devices visiting your website.

  • Visitors coming from paid traffic.

  • Visitors coming from organic traffic.

  • Visitors from direct, referral, and social sources.

  • Devices that generate one or many sessions.

Each device is counted once per time range, regardless of activity level.

What’s NOT Included.

Visitors do not include:

  • Multiple visits from the same device counted multiple times.

  • Sessions counted as separate visitors.

  • Page views counted as visitors.

  • Bot traffic blocked before the Tracking Script loads.

  • Visits where the Tracking Script is missing or fails to fire.

Important Notes About Visitors

  • A single Visitor can generate multiple sessions.

  • A Visitor can return multiple times across days and still count as one.

  • Visitors are device-based, not person-based.

  • Clearing cookies or switching devices may create a new Visitor.

Visitors vs Sessions: Key Difference

This is the most important distinction to understand:

  • Visitor answers: How many unique devices reached my site?

  • Session answers: How many times did browsing activity start?

Example: Visitors vs Sessions Explained

Imagine the following scenario:

  • You click on a Google Ad today and land on the site.

    • GrowthOptix records:

      • 1 Visitor

      • 1 Session

  • You continue browsing pages on the site.

    • Still:

      • 1 Visitor

      • 1 Session

  • Later the same day, you click a different ad and return.

    • GrowthOptix records:

      • 1 Visitor

      • 2 Sessions

  • The next day, you return to the site again.

    • GrowthOptix records:

      • 1 Visitor

      • 3 Sessions

Even though multiple sessions occurred, you are still the same Visitor.

Why Visitors Matter.

Visitors help you understand:

  • How many unique devices your marketing is reaching.

  • The true reach of your campaigns.

  • Whether traffic growth comes from new audiences or repeated visits.

Visitors become especially powerful when paired with:

  • Sessions: How often visitors come back.

  • Paid Clicks / Organic Clicks: Traffic quality and reach.

  • Sales & Revenue: How many visitors convert.

  • Conversion Rate: Performance per unique visitor.

What GrowthOptix Counts.

Visitors include only:

  • Unique devices detected on your website.

  • Visits successfully captured by the GrowthOptix Tracking Script.

  • Traffic that can be attributed to sources and campaigns.

This ensures Visitors reflects real reach, not inflated interaction counts.

Best Practices.

To ensure accurate Visitors data:

  • Install the Tracking Script on all pages.

  • Avoid blocking scripts or heavy redirects.

  • Keep landing pages loading correctly.

  • Validate that traffic sources are not stripping parameters.

  • Monitor for unusual spikes caused by bot traffic.

Limitations & Important Notes.

  • Visitors are device-based, not user-account-based.

  • The same person on multiple devices will appear as multiple visitors.

  • Ad blockers may reduce visitor counts.

  • Numbers may differ from ad platforms or Google Analytics.

Need Help?

If Visitors shows zero or unexpected values:
