This metric reflects the full financial impact of your traffic, combining initial sales and upsells into a single, comprehensive number.

What Revenue Measures.

Revenue measures the total amount of money earned, expressed in currency (for example, USD), from all completed transactions during the selected period.

It answers the question: How much money did my business actually generate?

How Revenue Is Measured In GrowthOptix.

Revenue is measured on-site, using the GrowthOptix Tracking Script.

GrowthOptix records Revenue when:

  • A purchase or upsell event is completed.

  • The transaction amount is captured successfully.

  • The event is recorded by the Tracking Script.

  • The transaction is classified correctly as a sale or upsell.

  • The event is attributed according to the selected attribution model.

Each transaction contributes its monetary value to Revenue.

Revenue Formula.

Revenue is calculated as:

Revenue = Sales Amount + Upsells Amount

This ensures Revenue reflects total transactional value, not just initial purchases.

Where To Find This Metric.

You can find Revenue in:

  • Marketing Attribution Overview.

  • Source-level tables.

  • Campaign-level tables.

  • Metric Chart View.

  • Different tables across Marketing Attribution.

This allows you to analyze revenue performance by channel, campaign, and attribution model.

What’s Included In Revenue.

This metric includes:

  • Initial sales revenue.

  • Upsell revenue.

  • Add-ons and upgrades.

  • Post-purchase offers.

  • Any transaction amount successfully captured on-site.

Revenue reflects gross transaction value by default.

What’s NOT Included.

Revenue does not include:

  • Failed or incomplete transactions.

  • Events that were not captured by the Tracking Script.

  • Platform-reported revenue not validated on-site.

  • Transactions blocked by script or browser limitations.

Unless otherwise specified, Revenue also excludes:

  • Refunds.

  • Taxes.

  • Fees.

Revenue vs Sales vs Sales Amount.

These metrics complement each other but serve different purposes:

  • Revenue → Total money generated.

  • Sales → Total number of transactions.

  • Sales Amount → Revenue from initial purchases only.

Example:

  • Many low-value transactions → High Sales, moderate Revenue.

  • Few high-value transactions → Lower Sales, high Revenue.

Understanding these together provides a complete transactional picture.

Example: How Revenue Is Calculated.

During a selected period:

  • Initial sales generate $150,000

  • Upsells generate $35,000

GrowthOptix calculates: Revenue = $185,000

All qualifying transactions are summed into a single Revenue value.

Why Revenue Matters.

Revenue helps you understand:

  • Overall business performance.

  • Which channels drive real monetary value.

  • The impact of upsells on growth.

  • How attribution affects revenue distribution.

Revenue becomes especially powerful when paired with:

  • Sales: Transaction volume.

  • Conversion Rate: Efficiency of traffic.

  • Visitors & Sessions: Funnel health.

  • Upsells Amount: Expansion revenue.

Best Practices.

To ensure accurate Revenue tracking:

  • Validate that transaction values are passed correctly.

  • Ensure sales and upsells are classified properly.

  • Avoid duplicate event firing.

  • Test tracking after checkout or pricing changes.

  • Monitor attribution consistency.

Limitations & Important Notes.

  • Revenue depends entirely on correct event configuration.

  • Attribution models affect where Revenue is assigned.

  • Platform-reported revenue may differ from on-site Revenue.

Revenue reflects real, captured transaction value, not estimates or projections.

Need Help?

If Revenue appears incorrect:

  • Verify transaction values in events.

  • Confirm upsells are tracked properly.

  • Check that the Tracking Script is active.

  • Review attribution settings.
