Clicks

Clicks represent the number of unique page visits based on a unique combination of page URL and visitor ID.

Written by Luis Schiffmann

This metric helps you understand how many unique visitor-page combinations occurred on your website, instead of simply counting every time a page was loaded.

How Clicks are measured

GrowthOptix calculates Clicks by combining:

  • The page URL visited.

  • The unique visitor ID detected by the GrowthOptix Tracking Script.

In simple terms: Clicks = Unique Page URL + Visitor Unique ID

This means that if the same visitor loads the same page multiple times, GrowthOptix does not count every reload as a new Click.

Instead, Clicks focus on unique combinations of visitor and page.

Where to find Clicks

You can find Clicks in the Marketing Attribution dashboard, including table views and reporting views where source, campaign, and performance metrics are analyzed.

What’s included in Clicks

Clicks may include:

  • Unique visitor-page combinations.

  • Unique visits to landing pages.

  • Unique visits to campaign URLs.

  • Unique page visits captured by the GrowthOptix Tracking Script.

  • Traffic from paid, organic, referral, direct, or social sources.

What’s not included in Clicks

Clicks do not include:

  • Every repeated page reload from the same visitor.

  • Multiple loads of the same page by the same visitor within the same tracked context.

  • Page views where the GrowthOptix Tracking Script is missing or does not load.

  • Events such as leads, signups, or purchases.

  • Sessions or visitors counted separately.

Clicks are not the same as Page Views.

Clicks are not the same as Page Views

Clicks and Page Views may sound similar, but they measure different things.

  • Clicks count unique visitor-page combinations.

  • Page Views count total page views, including repeated views.

For example, if the same visitor opens the same landing page five times:

  • Clicks = 1

  • Page Views = 5

This is why Page Views may be higher than Clicks.

Example

Let’s say one visitor lands on your pricing page.

GrowthOptix records: Clicks = 1

If that same visitor reloads the same pricing page three more times, GrowthOptix still counts: Clicks = 1

However, if the same visitor then visits your demo page, GrowthOptix records a new unique visitor-page combination: Clicks = 2

This is because the visitor interacted with two different page URLs.

Why Clicks matter

Clicks help you understand how many unique visitor-page interactions are happening across your website.

This metric is useful for analyzing:

  • Unique engagement with specific pages.

  • Campaign landing page activity.

  • Source and campaign performance.

  • Traffic quality.

  • How unique page visits connect to leads, sales, and revenue.

Clicks are especially useful when reviewed alongside Page Views, Sessions, Visitors, Leads, Sales, and Revenue.

Best practices

To keep Clicks accurate:

  • Make sure the GrowthOptix Tracking Script is installed on all relevant pages.

  • Use consistent landing page URLs for campaigns.

  • Avoid unnecessary URL variations that may fragment reporting.

  • Review Clicks together with Page Views to understand repeated page activity.

  • Check Clicks by source, campaign, landing page, or device.

Limitations and important notes

Clicks depend on page URL and visitor identification.

Differences or unexpected values may happen because of:

  • URL variations.

  • Tracking parameters creating different page URLs.

  • Page load issues.

  • Missing script installation.

  • Visitors clearing cookies or using multiple devices.

Because Clicks are based on unique visitor-page combinations, they may not match raw click counts from ad platforms or total Page Views inside GrowthOptix.
