This metric helps you compare website-side conversion tracking with platform-side conversion reporting.
How Conversions Difference is measured
GrowthOptix calculates Conversions Difference by comparing:
Website Tracking Conversions, captured through the GrowthOptix Tracking Script.
Ad Platform Conversions, reported by connected platforms such as Google Ads, Meta, or Microsoft Advertising.
In simple terms: Conversions (Difference) = Website Tracking Conversions - Ad Platform Conversions
Where to find Conversions Difference
You can find Conversions Difference in the Data Table View within the Ad Platforms section of the Marketing Attribution dashboard.
What Conversions Difference means
Conversions Difference helps you understand whether there is a gap between conversions tracked on your website and conversions reported by your ad platforms.
The result can be positive, negative, or zero.
A positive value means GrowthOptix Website Tracking captured more conversions than the ad platform reported.
A negative value means the ad platform reported more conversions than GrowthOptix captured through Website Tracking.
A value of zero means both sources reported the same number of conversions for the selected view and date range.
Example
Let’s say GrowthOptix Website Tracking captures 120 conversions for a campaign.
For the same campaign, the connected ad platform reports 100 conversions.
GrowthOptix calculates:
Conversions Difference = 120 - 100
Conversions Difference = 20
This means GrowthOptix captured 20 more conversions through Website Tracking than the ad platform reported.
Now, let’s say GrowthOptix captures 80 conversions, while the ad platform reports 100 conversions.
GrowthOptix calculates:
Conversions Difference = 80 - 100
Conversions Difference = -20
This means the ad platform reported 20 more conversions than GrowthOptix captured through Website Tracking.
Why Conversions Difference happens
Conversions Difference can happen because GrowthOptix and ad platforms may track and attribute conversions differently.
Common reasons include:
Different attribution rules: Ad platforms use their own attribution models, while GrowthOptix relies on website-side tracking and attribution.
Different conversion windows: Ad platforms may count conversions that happen within their own attribution window.
Tracking setup differences: GrowthOptix only counts conversions captured through the GrowthOptix Tracking Script.
Delayed ad platform reporting: Ad platforms may update or adjust conversion numbers after the initial report.
Missing or inconsistent UTMs: If campaign tracking parameters are missing, changed, or removed, attribution may differ.
Redirects or page load issues: A user may click an ad, but the page or script may not load correctly.
Different event definitions: A conversion in the ad platform may not always match the event configured as a conversion in GrowthOptix.
Because of these differences, Conversions Difference is expected to vary in some cases.
Why Conversions Difference matters
Conversions Difference helps you identify possible gaps between website tracking and ad platform reporting.
This metric is useful for understanding:
Whether platform-reported conversions align with website-tracked conversions.
Whether conversion events are configured consistently.
Whether tracking gaps may exist.
How much ad platform reporting differs from GrowthOptix Website Tracking.
Whether campaign performance should be reviewed more closely.
It is especially useful when reviewed alongside Clicks Difference, ROAS Difference, Sales, Leads, Revenue, Spend, and Conversion Rate.
Limitations and important notes
Conversions Difference should be used as a diagnostic metric.
A difference does not automatically mean that something is broken. Ad platforms and GrowthOptix may count conversions differently because they rely on different systems, attribution methods, reporting windows, and tracking logic.
For best results, make sure your conversion events are configured correctly and that the GrowthOptix Tracking Script is installed on all relevant pages.
