In this guide, you'll learn how to generate the correct tracking link using the UTM Manager in GrowthOptix and where to place it inside your Google Ads account.

Video Walkthrough

Watch the video below for a full walkthrough of the setup process.

Adding UTM parameters ensures that your campaigns are correctly tracked inside the GrowthOptix Marketing Attribution dashboard, allowing you to accurately analyze traffic sources, campaign performance, and conversions.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open the UTM Manager in GrowthOptix

First, log in to your GrowthOptix account.

Navigate to the UTM Manager located in the left section of the platform.

From there, click Create UTM to generate a new tracking link.

UTM parameters are pieces of information added to URLs that help GrowthOptix understand where each visitor or click originated.

Step 2: Select the Google Ads Template

GrowthOptix includes predefined UTM templates for common advertising platforms.

Select Google from the available platform templates.

You can then choose whether the campaign is:

• Organic
• Paid

For Google Ads campaigns, this will typically be set as Paid.

Step 3: Copy the Generated Tracking Parameters

Once the template is selected, GrowthOptix will automatically generate the required tracking parameters.

These parameters help capture important campaign information, such as:

• Traffic source.
• Campaign type.
• Ad details.
• Campaign identifiers.

Click Copy to Clipboard to copy the generated parameters.

Then click Save so the tracking configuration is stored in GrowthOptix.

Finally, you will see the Google UTM you just created.

Step 4: Open Your Google Ads Account

Next, log in to your Google Ads account.

Navigate to: Admin → Account Settings

Scroll down to the Tracking section.

There, you will see the option called Final URL suffix.

Step 5: Paste the Tracking Parameters

Paste the parameters you copied from GrowthOptix into the Final URL suffix field.

The parameters will typically begin with:

utm_source=

These parameters will automatically be attached to the landing page URL used in your ads.

Step 6: Handling Existing Tracking Links

If your URL already contains other tracking parameters from another platform or landing page tool, you can simply append the GrowthOptix parameters.

To append parameters to an existing link, use the ampersand symbol (&).

Example:

https://yourwebsite.com/?existing_parameter=value&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc

If the tracking field is empty, simply paste the parameters as they are.

Step 7: Save the Configuration

Once the parameters are pasted, click Save in Google Ads.

Your campaign tracking is now configured.

Google Ads will automatically attach the parameters to your landing page URLs when users click your ads.

Step 8: Test the Tracking Link

Below the tracking configuration, Google Ads provides a Test button.

Clicking this will generate a sample ad click so you can verify that the tracking parameters are being correctly applied.

How the Tracking URL Works

When someone clicks your ad, Google Ads automatically appends the parameters to the landing page URL.

For example:

https://growthoptix.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=example

The question mark (?) separates the base URL from the tracking parameters.

Google Ads automatically adds this symbol when needed, so you do not need to manually include it.

These parameters allow GrowthOptix to identify details such as:

• Campaign ID
• Ad source
• Campaign type
• Traffic origin

This information powers the Marketing Attribution dashboard, allowing you to analyze performance across campaigns and channels.

Tracking Is Now Enabled

Once the setup is complete, all traffic from your Google Ads campaigns will include the tracking parameters required for GrowthOptix to correctly attribute visits and conversions.
