Adding UTM parameters ensures that traffic from your campaigns is correctly tracked inside the GrowthOptix Marketing Attribution dashboard, allowing you to accurately analyze campaign performance and conversions.

Video Walkthrough

Watch the video below for a full walkthrough of the setup process.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open the UTM Manager in GrowthOptix

Log in to your GrowthOptix account.

Navigate to the UTM Manager located at the left-bottom of the platform and click Create UTM.

From there, click Create UTM to generate a new tracking link.

GrowthOptix includes predefined templates for different advertising platforms.

Select Facebook from the available options.

The system will automatically generate the correct parameters for Facebook Ads tracking.

Step 2: Copy the Generated Tracking Parameters

Once the Facebook template is selected, GrowthOptix will automatically populate the required tracking parameters.

These parameters typically include:

• utm_source = facebook
• utm_medium = paid
• campaign identifiers
• dynamic variables populated by Meta

Click Copy to Clipboard to copy the tracking parameters.

Then click Save so the configuration is stored in GrowthOptix and can be accessed later if needed.

Finally, you will see the Facebook UTM you just created.

Step 3: Open Meta Ads Manager

Next, log in to your Meta Ads Manager.

Navigate to the Ads section of the campaign where you want to apply tracking.

Unlike Google Ads or Microsoft Ads, Meta does not provide a global account-level URL tracking setting.

Because of this, the tracking parameters must be applied at the ad level.

Step 4: Select the Ads You Want to Edit

Inside the Ads section, select the ads you want to apply tracking to.

If the ads are the same type, you may be able to edit them in bulk.

However, depending on the campaign structure, you may need to select only the ads that can be edited together.

Below, there is an example:

Step 5: Edit the Ad Settings

Click Edit on the selected ads.

Scroll down until you reach the section called URL Parameters.

This is where the tracking parameters will be added.

Step 6: Paste the Tracking Parameters

Paste the parameters you copied from GrowthOptix into the URL Parameters field.

Once pasted, click Publish to apply the changes.

Meta will apply the tracking parameters to the selected ads.

Note About Learning Mode

After publishing the update, Meta Ads Manager may briefly show that the ads have re-entered learning mode.

This can happen because the URL suffix has changed.

However, this reset is typically short-lived since only the tracking parameters were updated, not the ad content or targeting.

Step 7: Verify Your Ads Have the Tracking Link

Once the update is complete, review your ads to confirm that the tracking parameters were correctly applied.

You can do this by reopening the ad settings and checking that the URL parameters field contains the UTM link.

Tracking Is Now Enabled

Once the setup is complete, traffic from your Facebook and Instagram ads will include the UTM parameters needed for GrowthOptix to correctly attribute visits and conversions.

This data will automatically appear in the Marketing Attribution dashboard, allowing you to analyze campaign performance across channels.
